Control Burrowing Animals for a Beautiful Lawn

It’s a wonderful time of year to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. But if you see patches of dead grass, raised ridges, or small volcano-shaped heaps of earth in your yard, it may be a sign that you have a visiting mole or armadillo. While these pesky animals serve a valuable function by offering deep aeration of soil as they feed on grubs, insects, and worms, they can be annoying to homeowners seeking a beautiful lawn.
Stockdale’s offers products to eliminate or repel those pesky creatures. To repel pests and discourage their visit, we offer Bonide® Molemax® products in both granules or ready-to-use liquid sprayers that last up to three months, are people and pet safe (when used as directed), and are for use on lawns, gardens, and planting beds.
Their Mole & Vole Repellent 5-pound container treats up to 2,500 square feet or we offer a Mole & Vole Repellent 10-pound bag that treats up to 5,000 square feet of area. Both contain easy-to-apply granules that effectively repel moles, voles, gophers, armadillos, rabbits, ground squirrels, and other burrowing animals. It penetrates deep into the soil where animals burrow. The active ingredient in these two products is castor oil, a natural irritant to burrowing animals, causing them to stay away. They can be applied directly from the container or bag or by using a broadcast or drop spreader.
If you have more area to cover and would like to just attach the container to your hose and spray, check out Bonide® Molemax® Mole & Vole Repellent RTS. This 32-oz. container will treat up to 10,000 square feet and is an economical choice. This liquid sprayer version offers all the same features as the two granular options mentioned above and uses castor oil as a deterrent.
To eliminate burrowing animals, we offer Bonide® Moletox® II products in both Mole & Gopher Killer 8-ounce containers as well as Mole & Gopher Killer in 1-pound containers. The bait is a granular, solid mixture and must be applied directly into the burrow system. Economical and safe for lawns, it’s conveniently ready to use upon purchase. No mixing is required and only one teaspoon treats an active burrow or tunnel. It also can be kept and used at fall planting to protect flower bulbs and other delicate root systems.
