Flea control
Flea populations, once established, can be very tricky to control. Many pet owners make mistakes when attempting to control fleas by not using more than one method. Because fleas can live in many different areas, it will take more than one method to effectively control flea populations. Not only should you treat your pet, but the carpet, sofa, bedding areas, and outside premises should also be treated. There are many good products for controlling fleas including topical (pour-on) products, sprays, and collars. Many of these products now contain an IGR (insect growth regulator) that keeps flea eggs from hatching. Another good idea is to vacuum regularly to pick up any flea adults, eggs, or larvae. When vacuuming, make sure to put a flea collar inside the vacuum bag to kill any adults or larvae that have been picked up.
